Elevation of Yogi Adityanath to UP CM’s Post is Part of Greater Hindutva Conspiracy

The ascension of a Hindutva Gadfly like Yogi Adityanath to the helm of India’s largest and communally most volatile state – Uttar Pradesh, is not another quotidian affair. It’s a part of a very cunningly engineered scheme that the RSS controlled Modi government is trying to implement throughout the nation – the grand plan of an all India domination and there remains only a few states that are lurching outside this unchallenged absolute domination of the saffron brigade over India at the moment.

There’s a lot of hullabaloo in the mainstream corporate media since the time the BJP has officially announced that the infamous riot-monger Yogi Adityanath is going to lead its prize catch after 2014- Uttar Pradesh, where the party returned to power after a long gap of 14 years. While the so-called liberals and the parliamentary left shamed the BJP for promoting one of its own MP as the leader of the state, the fascist Hindutva followers cheered the decision by chest thumping for the Hindutva icon, who was even called the Donald Trump of Uttar Pradesh by over-enthusiastic Hindutva bootlickers. 

The Hindutva fascist orator cum riot-monger turned Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, was not selected anonymously and spontaneously by a group of sycophant BJP legislators, as Venkaiah Naidu peddled the news, rather the mobster monk was selected for the top position by the RSS long time ago and the decision was informed in advance to the BJP leadership, which obliged its paternal organisation by elevating him to the top post of Uttar Pradesh. Yogi Adityanath was selected as the chief minister above veteran BJP leaders and RSS men like Rajnath Singh, Manoj Sinha, Keshav Prasad Maurya, etc. to lead the state for a particular reason – to help the BJP win 2019 general election with utmost ease.

The monk and the mobster

Donning the attire of a monk, being the Hindu pontiff of the Gorakhnath math, Ajay Singh aka Yogi Adityanath, an upper-caste Thakur, ruled the entire Purvanchal of Uttar Pradesh, with Gorakhpur as his citadel, since he was anointed to the top post of the famous Hindu monastery that commands the unconditional faith and fear of thousands of disciples in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and neighbouring Nepal.

Gorakhpur remained the home-turf of the Hindutva brigade and it was the birthplace of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement that was led by the Hindu Mahasabha initially, under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath’s predecessor, Mahant Digvijay Nath, aka Nanhu Singh, another Thakur bigot who played a crucial role in arousing Hindutva passions among RSS and Hindu Mahasabha fugitives, which lead to the assassination of M.K. Gandhi.

Mahant Digvijay Nath used the Ram Janmabhoomi movement to revive the Hindutva politics in Uttar Pradesh after it died down following the killing of Gandhi. The very movement paved the way for the BJP to climb higher on the ladder of success in the state and the national politics since the 1980s. Yogi Adityanath is harvesting those toxic shrubs today, which his predecessor, Digvijay Nath had sown in the fields of Uttar Pradesh.

Yogi Adityanath’s rule remained unchallenged since 1998, and any slightest degree of threat to his absolute authority was dealt with immense violence and gory atrocities committed by a gang of criminals loyal to the pontiff. Yogi Adityanath never blinked his eye while subjugating the masses of Purvanchal using fear and faith as his resilient weapons.

The gangsters of the region have been the most loyal accomplices of Yogi Adityanath, who won the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat as a BJP candidate five times consecutively since 1998. No political foe of Yogi Adityanath could sustain their position in the region due to the superior fire power commanded by the monk and due to the incessant flow of funding that he received. By using his influence over the local Hindu population, especially over the upper-caste Hindus, the pugnacious Yogi Adityanath bargained deals for himself and his sycophants from the BJP during elections.


Despite turning the entire Gorakhnath math, which is spread across a vast tract of land, into a hub of criminal activities for his gang, there was no outrage against Yogi Adityanath in the region and among the disciples of the math due to the absolute authority exerted by the religious institution on the feudal fiefdom of Gorakhpur and due to the fear exerted by the burly machinery of armed cohorts on the payroll of Yogi Adityanath.


The RSS ordered Yogi Adityanath to remain engaged with his efforts to spread the venom of communal hatred throughout the region following the footsteps of his protégé Avaidyanath, another dreaded head-priest cum riot-monger Hindutva chieftain of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The RSS never associated Yogi Adityanath with itself to showcase him as a “fringe” loose cannon of the saffron bloc.

Being a ‘fringe’ element, there were no restrictions applied upon Yogi Adityanath and he carried out the Hindutva cacophony unabashedly in his constituency and nearby areas. Yogi Adityanath founded the Hindu Yuva Vahini in 2002 after he was inspired by the well-orchestrated anti-Muslim pogrom in Gujarat, which was then executed by a man known as Narendra Modi.

As a militant organisation, the Hindu Yuva Vahini carried out the most nefarious activities in Gorakhpur and the surrounding areas of Purvanchal to vitiate the communal atmosphere and to instigate the Hindus against the Muslims by using misinformation and deceitful campaigns aimed at arousing communal hatred and xenophobia.

The Hindu Yuva Vahini soon became the largest, organised, and most militant Hindutva organisation in the Eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh and the RSS benefitted majorly from its activities. By performing ventriloquism excellently, the RSS used the loose cannon Yogi Adityanath to transmit the messages encoded with extreme communal hatred across the region to benefit the BJP during the polls. Using each and every occasion of communal tensions created by his agents, Yogi Adityanath further vitiated the atmosphere and helped in spreading riots and violence all over Uttar Pradesh.

As a decoy of the RSS, Yogi Adityanath masterminded some of the most heinous communal crimes in the history of Uttar Pradesh post-Babri Masjid demolition of 1992. He single-handedly initiated the January 2007 anti-Muslim pogrom in Gorakhpur, which forced the Samajwadi Party-led government to briefly arrest him to quell the public anger against the riot-monger and his gang. Except for this brief arrest, when the rioter was kept behind the bars for a time period that’s far shorter than what a pick-pocket would be locked-up for, subsequent governments in Uttar Pradesh, under both the BSP and the Samajwadi Party, never bothered to book him for the crimes committed by his outfit, Hindu Yuva Vahini, or for the vitriol he helped to spread.

The website of the Hindu Yuva Vahini displays an animated video that blames the Naxalites for burning trains, but the Hindu Yuva Vahini members themselves set to fire the Mumbai-bound Mumbai-Gorakhpur Godan Express when Yogi Adityanath was briefly detained by a friendly and supportive Mulayam Singh Yadav’s government in 2007. The detention was a blessing in disguise for the Hindutva brigade, which showed the people that Yogi Adityanath has been persecuted for being “pro-Hindu” agitator.

In the name of cow protection, the vigilante of the Hindu Yuva Vahini carried out ghastly atrocities against the minority Muslim community and a section of the oppressed Dalit community of Purvanchal and other parts of Uttar Pradesh. It was Yogi Adityanath, who studied the German Nazi movement closely and coined the phrase “love jihad”, which became a national propaganda about a purported “Muslim conspiracy” of altering the demographic equation of India by converting girls who fall in love with Muslims to Islam.

Yogi Adityanath became successful in making a large section of politically backward Hindus of Uttar Pradesh believe that a larger conspiracy plot like the “love jihad” actually exists and the Muslims are at war with the majority Hindus, in which they are forcefully abducting Hindu women, defiling them, and then converting them to Muslims to increase their population. “Love Jihad” campaign was carried out by replicating a similar model that the Nazis implemented as a propaganda to demonise the Jewish community in Germany, whom Hitler blamed of carrying out a conspiracy to defile the German-Aryan women. The entire idea of “love jihad” was copied from Hitler’s Mein Kampf. 

Yogi Adityanath also innovated the concept of baptising the Muslims and Christians into Hindu religion by calling the exercise a “reverse conversion” of “lost Hindus”. The Rajput feudal patriarch also promised the inception of a new caste in the Hindu caste system, which will accommodate the “reversed” people from Christian and Muslim communities. This venomous plan of Yogi Adityanath is now known as “ghar wapsi” or homecoming drive throughout India.

It was only in 2013 that the Yogi Adityanath prescribed formulas like “love jihad” and “ghar wapsi” started reaping benefits for the BJP. The anti-Muslim Muzaffarnagar pogrom of 2013 was initiated by the RSS goons, who carried out a virulent campaign based on lies, slanders, deceits, and hatred using the concept of “love jihad”, which the politically backward and lumpen section believed to be eternal truth due to the undying propaganda they were subjected to.

The dominant Jat community of Muzaffarnagar was made to believe that the Muslims are trying to transgress their households by forcefully converting their daughters and sisters into Islam, which created a ruckus among the politically and socially backward, but economically dominant, Jat community of the region. The rioters were also supported by the former Samajwadi Party-led government. The SP government provided the much required administrative relaxation to the RSS-sponsored rioters, so that they may carry out the pogrom without any hindrance. No wonder why Narendra Modi patted the back of the former chief minister whom he blamed heading a scam-tainted government only a few weeks back.

During the Muzaffarnagar pogrom of 2013, hundreds of Muslim men and children were killed, women were gang raped and the Muslim houses and slums were set on fire to evict the Muslims from the Jat-dominated villages by inciting the mob fury using the concocted tales of Muslim men trying to convert Hindu women. Yogi Adityanath got a huge fanfare in Western Uttar Pradesh following his usual, unbridled rhetoric against the Muslims during and after the Muzaffarnagar pogrom.

Since 2014, Yogi Adityanath got excessive coverage by the corporate media due to his Eminence Grise position in the Modi government and the subsequent freedom assigned to him to spread an intense vitriol against the Muslim community and secular parties. The hate campaigns included his regular threats to the Muslims, including the threats of genocide and holocaust type exercises. The corporate media happily obliged his desire to become infamous by providing undue importance and bandwidth to his bigotry and xenophobic moaning.

Yogi Adityanath also spoke at length about why Hindu religion, despite being a religion of 84 per cent Indians, is still under siege due to an “assertive Islam” and why the government of BJP can only resolve the problem of “Muslim appeasement”.  His vituperative remarks on the Muslim community was also designed to help the Muslim fundamentalists reap benefits in the communally surcharged atmosphere of Uttar Pradesh by inciting the Muslim young men to be equally violent against the Hindus.

Whenever Yogi Adityanath opened his mouth in public, it was to spew venom overtly against the minority community and his speeches had sub-layered threats of extreme violence and genocide against the Muslims. It won’t be a civilised attempt if we quote his infamous volley of hatred targeted at the Muslim community, though the internet has a great collection of those hate messages and also his past record as a rioter.

Why Yogi Adityanath for Lucknow?

Yogi Adityanath is the man who will be able to keep the atmosphere of Uttar Pradesh toxic with his communal propaganda. With an ardent misogynist, fascist communal bigot like Yogi Adityanath at the masthead of Uttar Pradesh, the BJP wants to show the original, unapologetic, grotesque face of the fascist Hindutva, which has a huge fanfare in the state among the feudal elites. This unapologetic assertion of its communal credentials will help the BJP to mobilise the newly created Hindu vote bank to remain loyal to Hindutva, despite the prominence of the upper-caste Hindus at the helm and the continuation of caste apartheid against the Dalit community.

For the BJP and its paternal organisation, the RSS, the ascension of Yogi Adityanath to power will be instrumental in their attempt to formally establish a Brahminical hegemonic system in the biggest state of the country that sends the highest number of Rajya Sabha members. The RSS and the BJP wants to sweep a clean majority in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha post 2019 and therefore, the saffron headquarters wanted someone at the top post of Uttar Pradesh, who can identify himself as a staunch Hindutva fanatic and can lead the country post 2029, when the RSS is considering the option of pushing out Narendra Modi.

As a Rajput Thakur, the Hindu  upper-caste to which most of the feudal landlords of Eastern and Central Uttar Pradesh belongs to, Yogi Adityanath was the natural choice for the RSS and the BJP to lead the state, as he will help to consolidate the base of the saffron bloc among its traditional vote bank of the feudal landlords and provide extreme level of support to them to carry out inhuman torture on the poor and landless peasantry, who mostly work as their bonded labour in the state.

While the Modi government  will be soon reaching to its final year and the 2019 general election will be a mandate on its performance, the RSS wants to secure a majority in the parliament for the BJP by ensuring that the next elections, from now onwards, are only fought on the binaries of Hindu-Muslim antagonism and that the BJP can keep intact its polarised Hindu vote bank, which now has a significant number of incensed Dalits, the ostracised community, and the non-creamy backward castes.

The so-called development plank, which the BJP kept reiterating as its agenda during the Uttar Pradesh assembly election, will be kept aloof from the people for the coming years as the BJP and the RSS will prepare the recipe for large-scale communal violence, persecution of Muslims and intensification of Dalit-Muslim rivalry in Uttar Pradesh.


In Uttar Pradesh, retaining the vote bank and preventing erosion would require an atmosphere of utmost tension, marred with subtle violence and state-sponsored pogroms against the Muslim community. There cannot be any other person in the fold of the RSS/BJP, who can do the job better than the outright Hindutva bully Yogi Adityanath. This is the reason why the RSS wanted Yogi Adityanath as its Man Friday in Uttar Pradesh and the BJP complied with the directions of its paternal body.

Yogi Adityanath led BJP government’s mission in Uttar Pradesh

As it’s a mammoth task for Yogi Adityanath to lead the party and follow the RSS guide map at a time when his escalation has brought a sense of deprivation among the BJP veterans, the BJP tried to balance the act by placing Keshav Chandra Maurya, the BJP state chief, and its Brahmin face Dinesh Sharma, as deputy chief ministers of the state. They will be acting as the administrator of the state and they will keep a tab on the aspirations of Yogi Adityanath.

The government of Yogi Adityanath certainly lacks any genuine desire to provide relief to the poor and the downtrodden masses of Uttar Pradesh. It will be an act of utmost political foolishness to expect the BJP government to bring any changes in the horrible economic situation that is prevailing in Uttar Pradesh.

Rather, under the patronage of a saffron bigot from their own caste, the feudal landlords of the Thakur caste will intensify the oppression of the poor and landless peasantry, who mostly belongs to the Muslim community, Dalit, and backward caste Hindus. The social welfare funds will be diverted to help the RSS mission of building up a huge army of militant supporters of the Savarkarite ideology and the BJP will keep inspiring more bigots within the Hindutva lobby to raise their communal rhetoric.

The BJP plans to motivate the Hindutva bigots from other Hindu monasteries and other religious institutions to join it for a brighter career by illustrating the meteoric rise of Yogi Adityanath from a pontiff to the top man of the state and a potential successor to Narendra Modi post-2029, when an octogenarian Modi will be in no position to become the prime minister candidate of the saffron brigade and will be cast into the oblivion.


Communal tensions will certainly rise in Uttar Pradesh as the feral Hindutva mob will get an incessant source of oxygen to carry out the most heinous crimes against humanity under the saffron banner of the RSS. The essential subjective conditions for a statewide communal carnage is now present in Uttar Pradesh and the BJP government will remain indulged in all type of efforts to create the objective conditions by using deceitful propaganda campaigns.

The police and the bureaucracy of Uttar Pradesh remained loyal to the Hindutva brigade much before the BJP was born. The caste-ridden, strong feudal citadel of Uttar Pradesh always had an administration and judiciary that strongly favoured the upper-caste Hindus against the Muslims and Dalits.

From the ghastly massacre of hundreds of Muslims offering Namaz at an Idgah of Moradabad on the 13th of August 1980, when then Congress leader and later Janata Dal leader cum prime minister, V.P. Singh was the chief minister of the state, to the horrific Hashimpura massacre of 22nd May 1987, when the PAC of the Uttar Pradesh police, then led by Congress leader Vir Bhadra Singh, cold-bloodedly executed 42 innocent and poor Muslim men, from the support exerted by the state administration to the Hindutva brigade led by the RSS and the VHP during their Babri Masjid demolition to the state patronage to the killers of Muslims in the Muzaffarnagar pogrom and Dadri lynching, the people can see the strong nuptial tie between the saffron brigade and the administration. It’s infantile desire to expect the biased administration, with most of it staff strength sourced from the pool of Saraswati Shishu Mandir alumni, to work for peace and harmony in Uttar Pradesh.

Thus, it will be easier for the newly sworn-in chief minister to use his entire bureaucracy to work officially against the minority Muslims and extend state help to the RSS and BJP’s efforts to dislodge Muslims from the towns and villages where the community is in majority vis-a-vis Hindus. The eviction posters, asking the Muslims to leave their villages, were pasted in parts of Rae Bareilly soon after the BJP won the Uttar Pradesh assembly election. The nightmare of the liberals and the anticipation of the left and the democratic bloc is turning into truth in Uttar Pradesh.

The global support to Hindutva fascism

The global rise of Islamophobic fascism under the leadership of Donald Trump led US government, which in nexus with its counterparts among the Zionist Israeli ruling class, the British, Austrian, French, and other European fascists is giving the anti-Muslim hatred an official endorsement.

This rising neo-fascism, fanned by xenophobia in the US and the West, is also helping the BJP to consolidate its rule in the country and carry out anti-Muslim hate campaigns and massacres with absolute impunity. The international community will turn back towards the plight of the Indian Muslims because of the market-friendly characteristic of the Modi government and its loyalty to Washington DC and Wall Street.

Yogi Adityanath will not be censored or criticised by the governments of all major Western countries because the BJP is in their league and the Hindutva elements like Shalabh Kumar and other corporate tycoons of the US, who help the BJP and the RSS with immense foreign funding, are now the powerful cohorts of the Trump regime and have stakes in policy formulation.

The Hindutva brigade led by the RSS has strong historic ties with the Zionist Israeli government and is one of the hardcore supporters of its occupation of the Palestinian land. The toady journalists of the Hindutva brigade, who work extensively for the Modi government as PR agents, are also on the payroll of the Zionist Israeli regime, which is trying to rake up support from reactionary upper-caste Hindus for its fascist rule and genocide of Palestinians. Yogi Adityanath is one of the vocal supporter of the Zionist Israeli policies and hence he is going to be the darling of the US-Israel and their lackey, Saudi Arabian government for the next couple of years.

The alignment of the BJP with the ruling clique of world politics and its servility to the interests of the big corporations owned by the US and Western monopoly and finance capital, has made the Modi government stronger than ever in South East Asia and has turned India into a watchdog of the US in the region, especially a pawn of Western military interests in China and Korea.

The Modi government’s war-cry against Pakistan and rapid spending on military hardware are helping the US military-industrial complex and the Zionist Israeli regime immensely and thus there cannot be any international condemnation of the BJP’s anti-minority crimes on international platforms, forget strong actions or sanctions against it.

All these factors are now turning into a favourable wind for the bigots of the RSS and the BJP, like Yogi Adityanath, who are now leaving the closet of being fringe to become what they always aspired to be, the mainstream. The rise of Yogi Adityanath as the choice for the BJP is indicating towards a crisis-ridden international monopoly capitalist system, which treats India as a haven of loot and plunder.

The super rich of the world and their subservient Indian ruling clique is unable to keep the rising tides of the economic crisis ravaging the capitalist production system under the carpet due to huge turbulences in the global economy. The economic crisis is threatening to expand throughout the world quickly and the only thing that can keep the people of the world and of the neo-colonies like India, diverted from seeking liberation from the predatory system, is the growth of fratricidal violence throughout the world, which will lead to genocide of minority communities by majoritarian fascists of all countries. The “divide and rule” policy is now an important weapon in the hands of the big corporations and their puppet governments.

The struggle for democracy must start

The opposition parties and their tainted politicians living in murky water are not capable of resisting this Hindutva onslaught, which even the result of the Uttar Pradesh assembly election also proved. They can be, at their very best, the secret ally of the saffron brigade. To expect them to lead or participate in the democratic struggle against the Hindutva brigade led by Modi or Yogi Adityanath will be a naïve thing.

Rather the onus to combat the fascist menace is now on the working class, the peasantry, the democratic section of the urban poor, toiled masses and the lower middle-class. A nationwide patriotic united front against Hindutva fascism and its foreign masters can only be built, if these classes are aroused through a counter-propaganda against the blitzkrieg of the fascist Hindutva brigade. The need to combat the Hindutva fascism represented by Narendra Modi and his coterie, including the Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, is urgent and to delay in knitting this broad alliance against fascism will spell doom for the future of India and its people.
